I haven’t used my Colorsnap for aaages, not since the scanner in the airport wiped my film >_< I’m not sure what you did to make it all turn out blue but it’s a shame it didn’t work out :( try again try again please!
“All migrants leave their pasts behind, although some try to pack it into bundles and boxes - but on the journey something seeps out of the treasured mementoes and old photographs, until even their owners fail to recognise them, because it is the fate of migrants to be stripped of history.”—Salman Rushdie - Shame
i enjoy your flickr pics ! are you living in HK ? i need a model for my photography assignments !!!
Thank you! I was living in HK for 9months, but I’ve left now and I’m travelling SE Asia until I go back home to England. Good luck with your photography assignments, I enjoy seeing your stuff pop up on my dashboard!
Hello! I started following your blog after you won the Nat Geographic Traveller Competition- I was a runner up, and read your winning entry eagerly to see how I could improve my writing. I found your Hong Kong blog and have thoroughly enjoyed reading it! I also love your photography- that kind of colourful observational street photography is what I aim to do, but my DSLR is such a pain to be discreet with that I hardly ever take it out. I saw you're now using a Lumix GF3 (oop, too many words!)
... and wondered how it compares to a DSLR in your opinion? I've saved up some cash and was planning to update to a Canon EOS 550, but I'm kinda tempted by something much smaller! I'd appreciate your advice :) And congratulations on your win! Hope you're having an awesome time travelling- lack of funds mean I can't get away at the mo, so I feel like I'm travelling vicariously through your blog! - Lou
My little Lumix is brilliant - not the same as an SLR in terms of picture quality, but so much better in so many different ways. I had a big Canon which took beautiful photographs but was impossible to be subtle with, so I’m loving literally the experience of shooting from the hip these days, and getting completely candid shoots. 90% of the time the pictures are awful, but occasionally there is a gem which makes it all worth it. I don’t want to tell you not to buy an SLR because they are brilliant in some ways, but I must admit that I’m really enjoying the versitility of my new toy. You should definitely try out some of the smaller manual cameras and see which is right for you :)
Massive congratulations on being published!! Which was your story? I thought the standard was amazing. Looking forward to reading more of your stuff. Thanks for taking the time to send a message :)
